Hi! I’m Yuki Kho, a 34-year-old proud resident of Amsterdam, where I share my life with my two wonderful children and my partner. By day, I have the privilege of hosting the cultural radio shows “Nooit Meer Slapen” and “Een Uur Cultuur” at VPRO,
while also diving into the world of podcasting with “Podcast over Poen” and
“Naakt op een Kleedje.” Additionally, I curate a cultural newsletter,
De Kho van Kunst, FULL with—yes— cultural tips.

As autumn unfolds, I invite you to explore my top ten kid-friendly cultural treasures that will ignite joy and creativity in your family this season.

Exhibition: Missen als een ronde vorm

September 27, 2025 – March 1, 2026 | Stedelijk Museum Schiedam

This exhibition explores how we can hold onto someone or something after loss. Based on curator Hanne Hagenaars’ book of the same name, it shows—through playful and diverse artworks—how different cultures deal with grief. A beautiful, approachable way to talk about this with your child. And the museum itself is a wonderland for kids, complete with artist-designed coloring sheets in the basement.

Mark your calendar: Children’s Book Week

October 1–12, 2025 | Nationwide

Nearly every library organises reading activities and author meet-and-greets during this week. Our family tradition: each year we let the kids pick a book in a store, and we (the parents) write a little note inside. It’s pure joy to reread years later—and the bookshelf becomes a time capsule.

Cirque du Soleil – KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities

Fall 2025 | Den Haag
The home of the most dazzling acrobats in the world, makes a triumphant return! This autumn, immerse yourself in their latest production, KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities, showcasing in The Hague. This spectacular show is designed for all ages and serves as a heartfelt tribute to the power of imagination. Their message is clear: when you dare to embrace the magic around you, you’ll discover it is present in every corner of your life.

Sculpture Garden at Kröller-Müller Museum

A timeless favourite in our home: the outdoor garden of the Kröller-Müller Museum. Especially in autumn, when the sculptures are framed in hues of red, yellow, and brown. Here, you can wander endlessly. From disappearing into Jean Dubuffet’s black-and-white landscape to recreating the organic stone sculptures of Barbara Hepworth, every moment is an invitation to explore and be inspired.

As a kid I went every year, and now I’m passing that tradition on.
Across the country you’ll find screenings of brand-new films plus hands-on workshops.

Opera for kids: The Theory of Everything (8+)

Fall break | Nationale Opera & Ballet, Amsterdam

Back by popular demand! Meet Nia, who wishes there were more hours in the day to chase all her ambitions (sounds familiar...?). Through spoken word, opera, and dance, she discovers she might not need to choose after all. A magical, philosophical journey.

Museum Voorlinden: Mark Manders

The permanent collection at Museum Voorlinden is already a celebration in itself for
visitors of all ages. This autumn, immerse yourself in the extraordinary works of the
internationally celebrated Dutch artist Mark Manders. While his creations may seem
delicate and ceramic at first glance, do not be fooled—many are crafted from robust bronze, inviting you to discover the strength beneath their surface.
