WE ASKED THEM TO CAPTURE 1 DAY (24HOURS)
As a family of four, we live in the beautiful town of Zutphen in the Netherlands, and we are taking you along for a day during our summer holiday. Two boys, one husband, one mama trying to keep it all together, one very full camper and a whole lot of chaotic madness. This summer, we packed up our home on wheels and headed north, travelling through Norway, Sweden and Denmark. And one of our stops was Oslo.
We arrived in the city in the afternoon and, after quickly parking the camper at the campsite, we took the bus straight into town. We love this about Scandinavia, everything feels so easy, calm and well organised. Within no time, we found ourselves right in the middle of Oslo. First stop: the Opera House.

The building itself is beautiful, but the best part might be the roof. You can simply walk all the way up, with the city, harbour and water opening up around you. The boys immediately started running around, while we tried to take in the view, and take approximately one hundred photos. At the bottom, we stopped for ice cream. Two ice creams for €17,00 Welcome to Norway ;)
From there, we wandered along the harbour, passing little coffee spots, floating saunas and people enjoying the water. The city felt alive, but never too busy. There was space everywhere, for people, for bikes, for kids to run and for us to simply wander.
We made our way towards the city centre, stopping wherever something caught our eye. Street theatre, little shops, coffee to go and pizza for hungry boys. No strict itinerary, just walking and seeing where the afternoon would take us. And honestly, those are often our favourite kind of days.
By the time we headed back to the campsite, we had walked for hours and were completely happy and tired. We hadn't seen nearly enough of Oslo. There were museums we wanted to visit, bikes we wanted to rent and neighbourhoods we hadn't even reached.
But that is the thing about travelling by camper: there is always somewhere else waiting for you. Norway still had so much to show us. But Sweden was waiting (and Denmark too). So we left Oslo with a little bit of unfinished business.
The four of us agreed on one thing: we'll be back.Because Oslo was everything we hoped for; beautiful architecture, good coffee, so clean, amazing views and that effortless Scandinavian feeling we love so much. And everywhere we went, people were so friendly and welcoming, which made the city feel even more special.

See you next time, Oslo.
