24 hours by the Up Ward Bird

We live in Brighton, in the South-East of England. There are four of us, myself (Mylinh), Luke, Ana and Minä (the Up Ward Bird) It is coming to the end of the school summer holiday here and a special one for us as this September, Minä will be starting school. Unusually we have not spent that much time in Brighton for the holiday this year, so it has been a welcome pace to be home for the past fortnight.

Today has felt particularly autumnal with the cooler breeze. We started the day waiting for a bus to take us to the swimming pool. They have had lessons since they were babies. As I’m not a strong swimmer and we live by the sea, we have been keen to ensure that they grow up to be confident in the water.

After swimming, we walk down a street lined with beautifully painted houses before heading to the playground to have lunch and a play. One of the windows had a display of rainbow origami cranes.

Next to the playground is a pond inhabited by ducks, swans and their cygnets.

We ended our day excursion with a trip to the library. Leaving as usual with a stack of books.

Finally home for dinner. On arrival home, Minä was pleased to receive a package for her adopted snow leopard from her granny as a gift ahead of her birthday in a couple of weeks time.
