Lappalainen Leaves mobile brass

Beautiful mobile Leaves from the German design studio Lappalainen. 
Each Mobile is made by hand from start to finish. The shapes are drawn, and cut out, then sanded on a grinding machine. The wire is hammered straight on an anvil and bent into shape with special pliers. The pieces are then soldered and polished. The mobile is then hung in their workshop for final adjustments to make sure the balance is perfect, before being carefully packaged.

Lappalainen
Lappalainen is Rivka, who studied Art History, and Wilfrid, a classically trained Silversmith. They live and work together in a historic brick factory building near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Originally, They were a classic silver and metal smithing workshop. Inspired by the artist Alexander Calder, Wilfrid designed and built a mobile for their living room, just for fun. Their friends and visitors liked it so much that they wanted one too. This was the start of their first orders. After a while, they perfected the designs and work process to create high quality, handmade mobiles in larger quantities to accommodate the growing orders.
